After suffering to find right leash for Rally, Obedience, ScentWork and just basic walks that is very light not to overcorrect dog during ScentWork by weighting down, but strong enough to hold German Shepherd who just saw a squirrel, and tough enough not to break in one bite if our GSD pulls it tight and puts a chomp to it at 238 pounds of pressure... At the same time wanting leash to look good, be easy to clean, have some choice of color and not to go broke in the process... We came across BioThane Beta leashes, but couldn't still quite find what we were looking for in the design, so we started making our own leashes.
BioThane Beta is web coated nylon that is pretty much replacing leather in equine products industry, now BioThane is making its way to the dog world. It is light, easy to clean, very tough, comes in many different colors and different thickness. The products you will usually see will sport 1" BioThane. It seemed very thick so hard to manage in a 10' ScentWork line, so we went to 1/2" and then found even thinner 3/8" material. The stuff is really tough and 3/8" works for our GSDs. We love the leash we ended up designing and would like to offer it for sale. You just shouldn't hide something so great! In our leash we are featuring anti-breakage braid - it takes pressure off pop rivets and provides uneven surface for teeth if your dog tries to chew it up. Now, our dogs crush the bones with their teeth, so they definitely can chew it up given time, but leash is tough enough to give us a chance to react and correct. Many other leashes didn't!
Leash can be made as long as you need it in any thickness as you want it and any color you like it. In the picture you can see our ScentWork leashes to match colors of dogs' ScentWork harnesses. We have Teal, Green, Yellow, Orange, Pink, Purple, Black in stock in 3/8" and some of them in 1/2", but if you want different color or size, we can get it as well. Please, let us know how big your dog is, so we do not overweight him/her with too big of a clip, on a thinner leash prefer smaller one without compromising quality, using brass clips.
